Be very careful though: the price is still calculated in CYP and the official exchange rate is not yet applied if you ask to pay in EUR, because the banks still charge a FOREX commission. For example, your weekly supermarket bill may come to £100 and you think you would pay €171. In fact, if you give them €200, you would be lucky to get £10 change. If you go into a bank with your €200, you will get about £114.20 but if you want to buy €200, it'll cost you £119.20 (today's prices). The official rate, when you pay after 01.01.2008, would be £117.05.

Prices are displayed in two currencies

Postby Tim Drayton » Thu Sep 27, 2007 5:08 pm

I could be wrong, but I thought shops were now required to display prices in Cyprus pounds and euros for information purposes, but that transactions still take place in Cyprus pounds only until 1 January. It is just to get people used to the euro, isn't it?

İn northern part of the Cyprus ,
CAR, HOUSE, RENTS prices are in British pound or Euro. At the boarder some shops prices are in British Pound,Cyprus Pound and Euro.

The money we are using is yeni Turkish Lira (YTL).

business mens are always cleaver , if foreign currencies dropdown against YTL they dont drop down their YTL prices. CROOKS.
