Discussion, Debate, or something else?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I like to be able to discuss an issue without having to put up with attacks of that nature. Agreed, this issue is a touchy one, but posts like that don't help anything and can prove detrimental in the long run.

The passion of Cypriots, both Greek and Turkish is only matched by their stubborness my friend. Besides, we are relatively new to social graces and the farm language we still use was not only reserved for the animals. Not even your mother will escape the wrath of some people here so just accept it as the norm and do not take it personally. We like to think that we are the most civilised people in the world but...who doesn't. It is all relative and pointless to the point that it is essential. Two Cypriots talking make two Nigerians look like they are making love under the moon light.

I have read your posts, Get Real. You make it abundantly clear throughout this forum what your views are on this issue, and what you think of those who take the opposing viewpoint. It's postings like that that concern me as to the healthiness of this forum.

Some of the posts I have read on this forum don't sound 'fun' to me. A lot of them were depressing to say the least. It's almost like taking a risk making one's stance known at the outset, but then again, can one sit on the fence with an issue such as Cyprus? Both sides beleive in the righteousness of their cause, and that has resulted in some pretty nasty posts, not to mention abusive and threatening - from both sides. Not healthy.

I don't think you have to take a stance. How about you question, digest and respond to individual points as raised.

Much more healthy than an intransigent stance.

Oh and don't be afraid to show your ignorance . . it does not bother me one little bit how little I know!

A healthy forum is one where abusive and threatening language is not used in order to intimidate or egg on other forum members. At least that is how I define it. IMHO...

You know what would be interesting....How about you define yourself.....You seem to have a whole different idea as to how effective or annoying you are. (Or how honest for that matter)
