Smart Card for Satellite?

Postby farangkel » Tue Sep 25, 2007 8:24 pm

A quick question if I may, the apartment I am moving into has a box decoder that picks up about 3 different satellites but many of the channels it says I need to insert a smart card.

As I am not so smart about how one goes about getting one of these cards, I was hoping someone could offer me their recomendations as to which card (is there only one) which package, and how much and where to purchase / subscribe.

Thanks in advance

Thanks, I will advise back tomorrow night if I can, all I know is that is Astra 1, 2? - Nova something, the owner said there were 3 different ones on the top of the buildining, didnt really look that close honestly, I just know that it had a million channels but many of them had a $ sign beside them and when I clicked on one, it said to put in a smart card.

Thanks

Hi Again: I have checked and the satellites are Hotbird (seems to have the most), Astra and Amos 1.

Any suggestions which type of card I need and where to get one would be most appreciated. Looking to get movies, sports etc... typical western channels.

Thanks much
James

If you have broadband connection, I would look at getting a dreambox. It costs around £150(ish) and around £10-£15 a month, but it opens up ALOT of channels.
