How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

That the people who pay the money have a say in how it is spent. There are no gifts in the EU. Grants are given with a long term goal that they will somehow provide a benefit to the whole EU, if only by the simple means of increasing the recipients purchasing power and injection of cash in the overall economy.

We have payed with more than just money Nikitas and are entitled to some rebate. The money after all is supposed to regenerate the North that has been under siege for so long so the conditions change...

Zan

Thre is a simple remedy- apply the EU legal order to the north. Enter the VAT system, then you will be in direct contact with the EU on the most relevant level- money! Europeans understand that more than anything else.

As for reaparations, they dont much understand that part. Germany was supposed to compensate Greece for damages caused during WWII. All of the country's infrastructure had been destroyed by the retreating German army, ten per cent of the population dead, the treasury robbed. The only condition was the reparations would be paid once Germany was reunified. Well, the German courts decided that this promise was no longer valid after reunification.

Applying the EU legal order does not require any action other than accepting application of EU rules. The TRNC has expressly refused to do that.
