I've red his blog and the forum and all the comments from his friends who already met with him at the hospital. It was a side wave which literally washed him and his wife offboard. His wife could swim but her arm was injured but it doesnt help with such a strong wipeout. The cabin was sealed and the kids were safe...

We are going from what the report said. Why don't you print what his blog says.?? The fact that he was sailing so close to land in such conditions, is what makes him an idiot.!

He was trying to get to the harbour as weather conditions were deteriorating... would you expect him to fight 12foot waves in open sea of Pafos? It wasnt his first trip to Cyprus, he was sailing back and forth for over 3 years. Guys, please... when the tragedy like these happens, you are like those Kiprees kutsompoles gamo ta kerata mou. Eh kani!!!

I'll tell you whats moronic, someone setting sail from Turkey and trying to approach a small port such as the kato Paphos one without a GPS and without checking the weather first.

Even experienced fishermen in that area will run aground on occassion unless they've got a GPS that clearly shows where the coastal reefs are located.

I've had a boat damaged quite heavily while in the port in bad weather let alone sailing outsde it.

He didnt ran aground... he was washed off the boat in deep waters with engine kept running, the boat made full circle and continued course to the shore. Bloody hell... its even inappropriate to offend that guy at this time. Today you certainly showed me your real human qualities...

Lets drop it then, but this kotziakari will be at Andreas's funeral. Who didn't just die because of your mate but also because of budget cuts in the coastguard.

I find it very irresponsible also. A ten months old baby and a 3 year old toddler in such a small boat. Crazy.
