Need help with information about piracy and pirates in Cyprus between 1800 and 1900.

Do you have any information? Either in the form of reference to documents such as history books, reports etc, or even stories you might have heard. All of it is welcome.

Reason for asking has to do with an ancestor- grandfather's grandfather was a pirate. He must have been born around 1840. Around that time piracy was on its wane in the Mediterranean, so I am curious about what kind of piracy would be practiced in Cyprus and the surrounding seas at that time. Not all piracy involved taking over ships, some was in the form of luring ships to shore with false lighthouses etc.

Bit off topic, but from many posts I have read on here, i'd say the pirates now sell houses instead of smuggling rum!
