Is Division the best Solution???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Viewpoint » Wed Mar 16, 2005 11:25 am

Dear Forum Participants,
Have just caught up with whats been going on in the forum, sorry to say same old arguements, intollerance and blinkered vision.

Doesnt this again reconfirm what Im saying in this thread that the solution we seek is a velvet partition, this way we would put an end to all the arguements we continually churn up time and time again to no avail.

How long will it take for you guys to accept that what Im saying is what is in the subconscious of every Cypriot yet they dont want to accept or admitt to knowing that it is the only way we will close the endless negotiations which always result in failure.

Viewpoint, spell out in detail in another thread your idea for a 'velvet partition' and how it would work and we'll discuss it. If everyone agrees, we can agree it's a way forward. I'm planning to put my own detailed plan up on here in the next week or so, which would to all intents and purposes be a partitional arrangement, albeit within a federal framework, so if yours is on here by then, we can see which measures people most agree/disagree with. That would be a way to drive the arguments.

If partition were ever to happen, both sides will quickly regret it. Ultimately, it is the people that will determine the form of any solution, not the politicians that have their own vested interest.

I agree Mikkie, although ultimately, it will doubtless fall to the politicians to determine the substance of any solution and the people who decide whether it's a workable solution or not...

If no solution is reached until the end of this year, Turkish side will focus upon partition more than reunification. Time out! Game over!

Come on everybody you all seem to be living in utopia, there are no end of solutions combination of federation and confederation european style american style african, this is not the issue.
We Cypriots do not trust each other, the comments and arguements put forward by us all in this forum confirms this. The referendum for me killed any hope of reconciliation and unfication. Although I try not to blame either side for this, it only clarified in my own mind that we are unable to agree anything, a plus for TCs is considered a negative for GCs, so cannedmoose, in answer to your question of detailing what I think is a velvet partition, to but it bluntly TCs give back an agreed amount of land and stay completely divided from GCs , outside of the EU but a recognised country until which time they are ready to enter and are accepted by the EU. This would bring to a close arguements and counter arguements of being called thieves, murders, greedy power addicts or one community wanting to dominate the other.
Lets leave all these arguements that have dogged us for 40 odd years behind and agree to stay apart as 2 countries the ROC for GCs and TRNC for TCs.
THE END

I FEEL THAT THE DOOR IS STILL WIDE OPEN FOR SOLUTION, SO LETS LOOK AT TODAY AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO BEFORE WE START TO TALK ABOUT VIEWPOINTS DREAM OF PARTITION.

Go convince Tassos' crew and Karamanlis' crew, bro. Our discussions here can't help the reunification of Cyprus; neither the partition.
