Old ones are the best

It never ceases to amaze me how at the slightest mention of "Islam" or "Muslim" one by one all our racist friends start to gather round ready topost their "two cents worth"!

The world is full of them GR. I am glad you point it out.

Now ask him why he put Islam and Muslim word in inverted commas just like when he writes TRNC or KKTC?

And a question for you:

When a few racist GC posters hijack a thread that is not in their (GCs) interest, why are you always right there amongst them?

I know this is off topic so you don't have to reply here, you can PM me your answer if you like or start another thread, up to you but I really would like to know.

Unfortunately me and you are poles apart.with respect to our behaviour. .

You are damn right we are.

Wrong topic any way .

HAHAHAH, that's rich coming from you deniz after all the hijacking you helped your friends with.

Go away.

What are you, a dictator?

Even an apology wont do I'm afraid.

Who or what ever gave you the idea that I will apologise to you?

I am a Cypriot and I can choose my friends.

I am a Turkish Cypriots and I choose my friends.

Thank you

I suppose you think talking about brothels and "3 euors per centimeter" is the right topic for a thread named Ramadan, right?

There is a new EU directive regulating the amount charged for the use of the facilities, apparently it will be 3 euros per centimetre ( ready for action).

I feel so sorry for the Gents who, like myself, can no longer afford such a financial drain on our resources. Wink

Any chance someone could briefly explain what Ramadan is all about . I know about the fasting but that is about all . I also wonder how sportsmen get on eg footballers to keep a high level of fitness .

I think its where you deny your body sustinance to think of higher things - that is- God. And also to know what it feels like to be hungry and thirsty like your poorer brothers and sisters. I believe that at the end of the fast an animal is killed (sheep usually) and you keep only a small percentage - the rest is given to the poor. In more developed countries the Şeker (sugar) part is to give sweeties to children to celebrate. Every shop here has a big bowl of sweets at the checkouts and counters so you can help yourself and the children get dressed up and knock on doors wishing you happy bayram and of course getting sweeties in return!!!
A lovely happy time of year. Please bear in mind this is only my understanding of it - I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong!!!

how do the children get dressed up? in nice clothing, or in costumes? that is interesting and i wish to know more about that aspect. he have Halloween here, on Oct. 31, where the children dress up in spooky or silly costumes andgo door to door "trick or treating" for sweets. it's one of my favorite holidays.

GG, we have "Seker Bayrami" and "Kurban Bayrami" both celebrated once a year seperately but once every 32 years the celebrations are twice a year for each.

On "Seker Bayrami" we give the kids sweets and on "Kurban Bayrami" people (those who can afford it) usually sacrifice an animal, not necessarily a lamb.

If you click on the link below you can find out more about these festivities, it would take me ages to explain each one.

http://www.allaboutturkey.com/bayram.htm

BTW, apart from the Bayrams, here in the UK we also have Halloween same day as in the US (I think:?) and also Guy Fawkes on 5th of November. We (most of us anyway) do not deny our children these festivities (or Xmas) and let them enjoy their childhood.
