Seems dodgy all round but I can't help but feel this is unfair to the TC's who are trying to make a living.

You're experiencing first hand the dilemma that the RoC and GC individuals have to face on a daily basis in their relationship with the TC community. On the one hand we want them to be prosperous and happy and on the other we have to dodge partitionistic attempts, often disguised in sheep’s clothing, and in the end most of us tend to opt for “better safe than sorry” which unfortunately doesn’t do much for the relationship to grow.

You are so right. But how can it ever move on if this continues?

It's the feelings of the good ROC friends I have that worries me most.

We're in an awful catch-22 situation whereby a small portion of our people are sleeping with the enemy so to speak, so unless the Turkish element is completely removed from the equation I cannot really see an end to this mistrust.

Niki,
I just wondered whether your dilemma was tougher or easier than say, buying oranges from Israel (occupied Palestine), Nike shoes from Vietnam, petrol from Iraq, or gas from Russia. Or flying in and out of Cyprus and contributing to climate change and so on ?

I suppose it depends on whether one thinks that by not consuming, not buying, or not working for X one has thereby avoided contributing further to a problem.

That's no different to catching your spouse in bed with someone else and then justifying it because there must be thousands of others out there sleeping around anyway!

You must have doubts in your head if you can trust these people or not otherwise you would not have started this thread and would not have asked the question above.

The truth of the matter is from what you write is that you don't trust the people you live amongst and are scared that they might take some sort of revenge on you if you take the job on.

This Niki, is exactly the reason why we don't want to unify with the GCs because we also know that we can't trust them.

I am not going to tell you to take the job on or not, that's entirely up to you but to put your mind at ease maybe you should test your "friends" to find out for once and for all if you can trust them or not.

A dilemma and over something so simple - on the surface!

Maybe now you understand how we feel and why we don't want to live under Greek/GC rule.

Judging by your avatar you've clearly chosen who you want to live under so when do you plan to paddle back to Turkey?
