Bayrak

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It helps me get a better 'feel' for what is happening on the island. Oh, and by the way, I also listen to the (south) Cyprus media as well. Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation is there to be watched and listened to. If you don't like what they have to say, don't listen to it. Yuo have that right too, you know...

Nobody said that Bayrak can not publish whatever propaganda they want. They are free to do so, and you are free to go read that propaganda if you wish. Nobody said the opposite.

What I said is that this is a discussion forum, and not a place to re-publish propaganda by copy/pasting.

Maybe for example you also like to have sex with children. Would that mean that the forum should promote child pornography by re-publishing content that exists in other websites?

I don't think so. If you want that kind of content you can get it yourself. Here is a discussion forum and you are free to express your own opinion, but not to re-publish whatever content you feel like.

If you read the "about us" page it clearly states: "Cyprus-Forum.com is an independent discussion forum that allows people to freely and anonymously express their opinion and debate issues on a wide variety of subjects." It doesn't say "freely re-publish content from other websites", since there are obviously some restrictions for that.

Also the above is mentioned in the 'About Us' bit which you fail to mention. (se below)

"Our aim is to facilitate communication between all people of Cyprus irrespective of nationality, citizenship, race or religion. Everybody is welcome to our forum, and every opinion is respected by the administration." The c/p which you relate to is a comminication also.

Piratis, please dont pick and choose. Your position as a moderator will be suspect. Maybe you should change the 'goal posts'/'about us' note
to suit your own biased agenda.

Halil just copy/paste the articles that are given to him one after the other. He is not even the author of those articles.

I would understand if he was copy/pasting some article every now and then, and made some of his own comments and questions about them, but this is not what he is doing.

The link to Bayrak is in his signature and anybody can just go there and read all the articles and even comment on them.

It is a one way "mass communication" between a publisher and its audience.

A forum is a multi-way communication where people express their own opinion and debate issues.

...and you can debate anything which is brought up, if you so wish. You can handle that, Piratis.

If the intent of airing opposing points of view is to help people make up their minds on an issue, then Bayrak should not be condemned. Okay, the (south) Cyprus government demeans Bayrak as a pirate broadcaster, but given the freezing out of the Turkish Cypriot presence in the news media since December 1963, then what other choice did the Turkish Cypriot people have? You might not like what BRTK has to say, but ligitimacy in the government depends upon allowing the views of all sides to be heard. That is the essence of democracy (which is a Greek invention, I do believe).
