ECHR REJECTS GREEK CYPRIOT OPPOSITION TO TRNC JUDGES

Postby halil » Tue Sep 11, 2007 5:12 pm

The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the Greek Cypriot Administration’s opposition to the TRNC High Court President Metin Hakki and High Court Judge Gonul Eronen – who were put forward by Turkey for positions at the Court.
The issue was taken up at a meeting in Strasbourg last week.
The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the Greek Cypriot Administration’s opposition to the TRNC judges who were put forward by Turkey for positions at the Court.
The decision follows a meeting held in Strasbourg last Thursday.
The Greek Cypriot Administration lodged objections to two TRNC judges claiming that they could not be fair and objective because of the oaths they had taken to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The TRNC High Court President Metin Hakki was appointed as an ad-hoc judge by Turkey for 38 cases filed by Greek Cypriots against it.
Mr Hakki has been serving as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights on property cases and High Court Judge Gonul Eronen on cases concerning the missing persons issue.

The idiots at Bayrak don't even know the difference between a judge and a solicitor. Metin is acting as a LAWYER of Turkey at the ECHR not as a judge of the ECHR :!:

Here's some more light

http://www.brtk.cc/index.php/lang/en/cat/2/news/19701

The President of the TRNC Supreme Court- Metin Hakki has been appointed as the judge :!: :!: :!: :!: to represent Turkey in 38 cases brought against it at the European Court of Human Rights.

Halil do you have more stupid articles to copy paste? :P :P :P :P

What is the source of this story ?

It is very odd, to say the least, that the purported appointment of neither Metin Hakki nor Gonul Eronen are mentioned on the ECHR website, nor is the purported case of Cypriot objection, nor even as far as I can tell does the ECHR search engine (a really very good one at that) produce any results for their names. Shurely shome mishtake.

CopperLine,

I guess the job of halil in here is to bother us solving bayrak’s puzzles.
This is what he said.

halil wrote: The TRNC High Court President Metin Hakki was appointed as an ad-hoc judge by Turkey for 38 cases filed by Greek Cypriots against it.

Searching the bayrak website I found nother article (with green colour bove) that indicated -yet again in a faulty language- that someone who is now working as a judge was appointed as their LAWYER.

Substitute the word "judge" in the above distortions with the word "lawyer" and there’s a possibility you may end somewhere.

Halil,
I'm not having a go at you, but you've got to admit that there's something wrong with this story. If the ECHR don't even mention who two of their supposed judges are, they don't even mention a petition from RoC, then it is reasonable to conclude that someone has (a) been telling porkies or (b) someone has been feeding false information.

Not knowing who their judges are or not knowing that a state had petitioned the Court is not the kind of oversight or forgetfulness that would go unnoticed !

CopperLine,

I investigated the matter further. Like I said before the story of halil was actually a puzzle. Some truths, some lies some distortions, some interchange of the words "judge" with "lawyer".... gave a totally different picture.

The only part that is true, is that indeed, Turkey as one of the 47 countries (or is it 46?) that signed the convention to make it elligibile at the ECHR and hence have ONE TURKISH judge there, chose to scrap the THOUSANDS of mainland Turkish judges and propose two TC judges (for the ECHR to chose one). As you know the judges of the ECHR change from time to time.
The RoC objected to those names, but the ECHR rejected the objection.

Anyway what does the action of Turkey tell you as a legal expert regarding the status of the occupied areas?

So right that he made it look as if Turkey has the authority to appoint judges in the ECHR even against herself!!!

quote:
"The TRNC High Court President Metin Hakki was appointed as an ad-hoc judge by Turkey for 38 cases filed by Greek Cypriots against it.
Mr Hakki has been serving as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights on property cases and High Court Judge Gonul Eronen on cases concerning the missing persons issue."
