Its 6 years ago today terrorists hijacked planes, flew them into The World Trade Centre in New York, with the intention of killing as many people as possible.

RIP to those that were sadly killed :(

An infamous day that will live in the memory of all rational people forever.

New York turned into a necropolis by miscreants . . . serving no purpose but to stoke Bush's appetite for warmongering . .

We visited NY the following Sept (02) and went to Ground Zero. We stayed there 5 minutes. It was too eerie and sad and couldn't face it.

It was a terrible day in World history...... Not just for the USA.

However, since 2001 Bush's war on terrorism has done nothing but kill more innocent civilians and soldiers. That's a serious crime against humanity and he should be accounted for. Everyone can now see through his gun-ho image and final realise the man is a lunatic. After 6 years, now is the time to pull out of Afganistan and Iraq. Mend the wounds at home.

RIP all those who perished. :(

I don't know whether anyone is aware of this fact, but as a lasting memorial to those that lost their lives in the attacks, a naval ship was built using some of the recovered steel from the World trade Centers. It was named USS New York, and its main purpose is to carry troops and special forces to areas of conflict around the world.

A fitting tribute I think.

Do you also remember the days when 1000s of Iraqis or Vietnamese where killed?

I understand why this is a sad anniversary for the Americans, but why should we care about it anymore than we care about the many other 1000s of victims of terrorism and state terrorism? Do the Americans care about what happened to us in 1974?

The Americans have used that event as an excuse to commit massive crimes against humanity. I think us (the rest of the world) should stop helping them to continue using that excuse.

You're right! It's still being built though.

Piratus, I agree with some of your comments, but I think this was a horrible act against man kind by savages. No one is taking the 1974 invasion lightly. That was horrific and barbaric and everyone stood around doing nothing.

However, it was the sheer number of people that lost their lives in the space of a few hours that was so shocking and the fact that the people were going on with their ordinary lives when the planes struck. No choice to run and hide, no time to say goodbye. It could have happened to any one of us? The media and publicity coverage just amplified everyones feelings as we were watching people die in real time.
