Oh give it a rest mate, there is no shame in making a mistake, admit your own failings and be a better man for it.

It is very childish to blame others for one's own misdeeds BUT, it is unpardonably offensive to invent a scenario which condemns the integrity of a whole nation on account of them.

Anyone with a modicom of intelligence can see the TRUTH of the unfortunate incident which resulted in your loss, do not make matters worse for yourself by refusing to accept responsibility for your negligent behaviour.

The Scots are usually quite forthright, what happened to you ?.

Reminds me of those sinister Roald Dahl "Tales of the Unexpected" where the victim just won't rest in peace until the truth be told ......

Merely as a matter of interest and since the correct name for the breed is 'WEIMARANER', according to the Scottish Weimaraner Owner's Club, the breed has certain distinctive peculiarities.

W....Wilful, but so willing to please.

E.... Exceedingly loyal, sometimes possessive.

I.... Immensely intelligent and incredibly stubborn.

M... MISSES HIS OWNER DREADFULLY IF LEFT ALONE.

A... Accepts discipline readily with patience BUT,

R... Rules roost if allowed.

A... Adjusts your lifestyle out of recognition.

N... Needs a stable loving home environment.

E... Energetic :- exercise essential for mind and body.

R... Regards himself as being superior in every way.

Quite an interesting manner of introducing an owner to a certain breed of dog, apparently they are prone to pine if left alone for any short length of time, God knows what the state of the animal's mind would be if confined to a car on a blazing hot summer day, the mind boggles.

And now I will create a scenario which (in my opinion) is a far more accurate account of what transpired on the fateful day we have been discussing.

A man, having left his dog unattended in his car on a scorching hot day, returns to find the animal either dead or in severe distress.

He immediately rushes to the veterinary surgery and (not wishing to admit to the fact that he may have been negligent) informs the surgeon that he suspects his dog has been poisoned.

We can assume that he did not inform the surgeon of the fact that the dog was left in the car in such conditions known to be fatal, since THAT would suggest that he was a poor guardian of such a fine dog (hardly the description our friend would warm to).

We can also assume that the surgeon did not rebuke the owner since such rebuke might lead to a loss of 'Fee' OR, (in the case of this particular aggressive owner) a loss of 'Teeth'.

Adding the possibility that this particular owner may not have been aware of the sensitive nature of his dog (he being such a 'Macho' type) it is very likely that he preferred to lay the blame for his own negligence elsewhere.

A characteristic NOT to be admired in one such as he but, nonetheless, a possibility.

And so we reach a perfectly feasible explanation on just how the dog met his end, NOT by poisoning but by the very common occurance of 'Heat Exhaustion' the symptoms of which are almost precisely the same.

Case solved, the villain of the piece escapes prosecution for his negligence and the innocent folk of Cyprus suffer the indignity of being stigmatized by one who refuses to acknowledge his guilt.

I believe that to be a better story than the other load of old bollocks we are expected to swallow. IMHO.

Your right mate i most certainly do need to read up on the history of the conflics in Cyprus but i would rather hear it from the horses mouth rather than a book maybe we could meet up sometime over a pint and you could tell me all about it first hand then i would have the answer to both sides of the story as there is two sides to this story is'nt there? Maybe not in your eyes? Incidently my grandmother and her friend were murdered by a TC soldier on leave in Limassol then the drunken soldier lost control of his bike mounted the pavement on October Road in june 1985 and killed them both my grandfather got no compensation from either the Cypriot or Turkish Government and the soldier claimed diplomatic amunity and served a 3 month jail sentence in Turkey.
A year later my grandad commited suicide taking his own life as he could cope no longer with the loss of the love of his life and his chiidhood sweetheart and kept blaiming himself for my grannys death.

Such admissions merely highlight the fact that you should have known better than to leave your poor charge in such a life-threatening situation.

As to my friendships, they are legion and long standing.

Goodnight Jock (sorry I am not aware of your real name and intend no offence by addressing you thus).
