Couldn't you come up with something more enticing, or as you'd put it, more "creative"? ;)

How about this: Mark Twain on Education.

What did Twain mean when he said, "I never let schooling get in the way of my education"?

It's learning not to use that many question marks in a row because one will suffice. 8)

I was schooled in the finest academies
yet dismissed everything I was taught,
for the studious life is so tedious
and the lifetime of man is so short.

If you argue that this may confound you
and that progress may never begin,
just open your eyes, look around you
and observe the sad world we live in.

Why, the same thing you're saying, of course, free_cyprus (I guess this discussion's over now). ;)

... But I still don't find your example of Thomas Edison to be on point. Thomas Edison is proof that "necessity is the mother of invention, " not necessarily an example of one who's acquired a "real" education. In other words, although not applicable to Edison, one can invent while at the same time be a moron in most other aspects of his personhood, i.e. IQ vs. EQ and all that other stuff.

If that's the Extraterrestrial Quotient you're on about free_cyprus has plenty of that...
