Things to do list

Postby webbo » Mon Sep 03, 2007 4:50 pm

ok guys, as you know have just been to Protaras for my birthday celebrations. While I was there I went paragliding with Webbo and VW's son, Chris - honest I have the pic and cert to prove it!!
No doubt lots of you will be thinking, so what, that's no big deal but it was to me - absolutely terrified of heights and not that good with water that goes above my head!!
So, it got me thinking as to what we would all like to do, if only we had the courage to do it? Any suggestions - and clean ones only please......
and doubly please, do not bring the Cyprus problem into this thread, ta :)

Sail around Cyprus in a sailboat, in calm weather. It is not very daring, like paragliding, but it has an endurance element and it is the kind of thing you only do once. And calm weather to enjoy the food in the boat, not over the side!

Though I'm not that great with heights, there is something I'd like to attempt, though don't know if it exists, I'd imagine it wouldn't. A bungee jump out of a helicopter.

Failing that, a parachute jump is something I've always wanted to do, but never had the bottle to do it.

Go for it!! :allout: Do not know about the bungee from copter, but I do know that VW's son would love to do a parachute jump and I told him NO! You could maybe help him out, yes?

Bubbles - I sent of emails to 2 different companies in Cyprus back in June asking for some info. Neither one replied back to me.

I'm now thinking about the Dekhelia bases, to see if I can do it through them, if they take civilians on jumps.

Just in case you thought I was being rude Hazza I have highlighted the part that made me laugh....A failed bungee ending up as a parachute jump.....

Hazza mou, no idea about the bases, but will ask my friends at this end too if you like. :?: I do volunteer work on the bases so maybe one of them may have some ideas  Maybe you could do it as a charity jump if it ever comes into fruition. :P :!:

LEAP

You will find the actual Parachute JUMP, which is called descent very safe, the only problem occurs with the sudden halt on reaching the ground, similar to jumping off a 30' high wall, that is of course if the chute opens in good time, and not on impact.

The sports chutes used are excellent and you get a reserve, why you may ask as everything is as safe as it can be.

Why not do a sponsored leap for a charity supported by board members and others.

As an ex Paratrooper with Field Ambulance we were always sent out first and therefore able to treat any injured from the main drop, the cry of 'MEDIC' rang loud and clear across the DZ
