IS FEDERATION THE CORRECT SOLUTION?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Don't worry. We will also have a "partitionists mahalla" in each state for people like you.

I'm afraid to ask the question, but here it goes. Is this really FUN. :?:

What's the name of this "balls squeezing" game called Kifeas. :?: :?: :?:

I should get out more often from living in my sheltered life.

"In 1974 Cyprus was essentially an agricultural economy with pockets of artisanal production, and the odd bit of industrial production eg mines. Most people, even if not directly employed on the land, were still strongly connected to the land most often through continuing family associations with the land. For an agriculturally based population whose income and skills are directly drawn from the land to be expelled from the land is next to expulsion from life itself. Perhaps that's too melodramatic, but it approximates the significance of land.", copperline

A good description, but a little more complex, because of the social system within the villages that was lost, which produced the doctors, teachers, etc., urban dwellers with extended roots. Complexities in heritage rooted in this land, and its trees, in their possesion for hundreds of years, with families that have grown, but remain in close contact. Everyone lost, that subtllty called cooperation. Families were shattered, as in 1964, because they could not sustain their diaspora, without the land around which they centered, their Patrimony, and its stewardship. May I add that agriculture is important, or we become dependant to others for our food.

... and what is wrong with a federal system like no other. Something that is futuristic. Something which allows us to have many more choices. Something where we have a State, and two National Assemblies.

Geographically, Bizonal does not mean two parts, two zones each must have many parts. The fabric of the societies we have today in the north, and the south, will not be torn if enclaves allow for the return of the displaced in significant numbers, as communities.

vp
Not if one state is TC and the other GC with the GC sides main aim is reducing the TCs into just another minority.

VP basically what you are saying is that you want partition. You have not deviated from your original stance. You get ten points ;)

Thank you Humanist, if BBF is partition then yes that is exactly what I want. To much water has passed under the bridge to contemplate going backwards to the 1960s agreements and any new solution has to incorporate safeguards against repeating the mistakes of the past and include the current 2 state divide. Why not let Cypriots decide where they wish to reside be it north or south, be it a TC or GC administration. Why do you want to force me to live in a GC state where I am the foreigner?

If I'm forced to live under the GC state I would not stay in Cyprus for a second. I have built my dream home and am getting ready to retire in the TRNC. If this was to change I would sell up at a loss if need be and get the f**k out before you could blink an eye.

TC's are their own people now, they walk with their heads held high, why on earth would I want to become a second-class citizen in my own country. NO THANKS.

Mrfromng,

Like it or not in any Federal solution the Gcs will have a say in all Cyprus. So i guess you should start packing.

In what type of land have you built you "dream home"?

The answer to your question appears in at least 10 of my previous posts, if you are so curious look for it. Anyway you are a clever chap, I referred to it as a "DREAM HOME", there's a clue for you.

 The best you can become in the "TRNC" is a second class Turk!
