Yep, and its sickening. I cannot trust any politician. What we want is not words, but deeds.
On that tiny note, it will have to be goodnight.

Humanist,

You have read my "report" of my trip to the RoC this year. I had all the worries that you have now, but in just one day, all those fears left me and I was able to enjoy myself, even telling GC people I met, that I was a Cypriot, then followed by Turkish Cypriot. Much like " My name is Bond...James Bond". I was not made to be uncomfortable at all, so I would urge you to do the same. Tell them that you are a Cypriot..Greek Cypriot and accept which ever you are treated by the TC's. My guess is, you will not have any problems, so don't hide who you are.

Humanist , I do that all the time. I do not ish to repeat what has been said over and over again 'a la Pirati'. It gets boring. At the time GC wanted one thing and the TCs said OXI. That is the long sory cut short.
How the GCs wanted it and how the TCs said OXI, thats just irrelevant. And now we are in this mess.

Deniz

By the way, if you make it to the bus terminal in north Nicosia, I recommend that you go inside the main building where there is an arcade of shops. Here there is a stall selling coffee/tea/toasted sandwiches etc. It is run by a TC father and son. The father is originally from a village in Larnaca and later migrated to Australia, where he lived for many years, before returning to Cyprus. He is a very talkative fellow and has very broad-minded views on the Cyprus problem. You might have an interesting chat here. Obviously, he is fluent in English. I actually believe that you can get the best cup of tea here anywhere in Cyprus, and I speak as a tea lover in a coffee-drinking nation!

Dear Deniz, not all Greek speaking Cypriots wanted it btw. It didn't happen so it would be best to now start talking about the options we have. Like getting definition to BBF which has been the agreed way to go since 77. However Talat and his partition position is not willing to look at this option.

Tim, as a tea lover, I hope to give it a go.

May be I can start with baby steps. Visit the occupied Lefkosia to get a feel of the whole north and then venture off to Gemikona.

Cheers

Deniz, I am not saying that Papadopoulos has got what it takes to bring this Island to unification. Frankly the fact that a year went past since the July agreement is an indication to me that he did not advocate for Cypriots appropriately. He should have been working on this matter 24/7 and presenting the UN with possible issues for discussion and solution and shamed Talat for his lack of action on this matter.

Furthermore, the referendum did show that not all TC's wanted partition more of a reson to wrk closely together to unite our Island.

Yes, but all these prevarications from whatever side are making the idea of re-unification disappear over the horizon. I suspect that there is a secret deal somewhere to keep the staus quo.and create something like a BBF a la Matsakis?
