I'm a professional photographic retoucher and there are things you can look for in a photograph's channels that will betray it as being a fake or not. I'd love to see the original, as I could quickly tell you whether this is a fake or not, but looking at this image I would say it is almost certainly not. Or if it is a shop job it is a very, very good one.

naaah, thats an easy one because of the blue background on both images. It almost acts as a "blue screen" making the blending really easy. Add a bit of blur and some quick color adjustment and you are done

True, but switch to Lab colour and you'll see the fringes all too easily. The variation in pixelation will also still be evident – and that shark is not THAT blurred.
