Solving the yob culture of UK youth

Postby Steve0505 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 8:26 pm

Do you think that imposing a 10pm curfew on under 18's, with the prospect of a guaranteed 3 month detention in young offenders institute if caught outside of that will start to solve the gang / yob culture which is infecting the country.
I know there will be those who will spout civil liberties and human rights but I think their abuse of other peoples rights now demands drastic action.
If you have an alternative please let me know :?:

If they behave like beasts they should be treated accordingly. Just look at that poor 11 year old boy Rhys in Liverpool. My heart goes out to his family. They are blaming that on 'gang culture' History proves that a lot of methods have been used but no affect. I just hope that one day an answer will be found. :(

The answer is simple. Each offender is automatically conscripted into the army (infantry), does basic training for 3 months without leave, under the toughest RSM, not even given a 48 hour pass, then sent to Iraq or Afghanistan front line for a 2 year stint without home leave.

I define 'offender' as any gang member, druggie, allows body waste to litter the pavement, committing driving offences, involved in any theft or violent crime or habitual alcohol abuse, has an offensive weapon and is under the age of 30.

That may knock the stuffing out of the hardest case - if they survive!

"Human rights" has become the bane of civilised society – if only because the ones that claim them are inevitably the ones that remove them from others.

There is a movement in the world today for a "Charter of Human Responsibilities".

You can read about it at:

http://www.charter-human-responsibiliti ... re&lang=en

In my opinion, anyone that violates their responsibilities to another human should have their rights removed – simple as that.

While I'm up here on the soapbox, I believe that HONOUR and the integrity of a man's WORD are the central pillars of a civilised society without which it would (and on a daily basis DOES) crumble, and that the greatest sin of all is STUPIDITY – surely the basis of all the other sins.

(Climbs down from soapbox, feeling rather stupid.)

For those of you who don't feel like surfing just now, here is the text of the Charter of Human Responsibilities...

PRINCIPLES
to guide the exercise of human responsibilities

We are all responsible for making sure that Human Rights
are reaffirmed in our ways of thinking and in our actions.

You can't punish all teens because some of them are bad! I would be very pissed if when I was 17 I had such curfew. It would have the opposite result! The change that needs to be made is to treat people over 12 as adults. If somebody that is 14 commits a crime he should be treated in the same way that somebody that is 19 but also in the case of the 14 year old punish his parents also!

The armed forces wouldn't want pondlife in their modern technical environment, but I agree that some form of "national service" would be a good idea. Youngsters without jobs, and claiming state benefits should be put to work doing menial tasks to benefit senior citizens etc, possibly under the supervision of retired Regimental Sergeant Majors!
My initial comment of "public birching" was actually meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but on second thoughts ..............

You only had to see Bad Lads Army on TV where they put 2 dozen yobs of varying degrees through the old conscription training regime for a month, they were not so tough as they made out, especially when they could not bully anyone, crying for home etc.

I am Retired RSM, it was a joy to watch

Apart from that what about the VICTIMS human rights, the do gooders and bleeding hearts seem to forget about that.

No free foreign trips for them at the taxpayers cost.

Yet another reason why I am in Cyprus.
