LG laptop problem

Postby IcyNoAngel » Thu Aug 30, 2007 12:05 pm

Hi all,
A friend of mine got a LG Laptop (Celeron inside) with Windows Vista Home Basic installed.
Anyway, the problem is this: after 2 days, it crashed suddenly and stopped working. Trying to restart it, it stoped just after hardware check. After a couple o atempts to resucitate it, even tried recovery, which on Vista it seems is not activated automaticaly, decided to put Vista again. Everything ok, I've formated primary partition, and started Install. After the first restart.. same crap happened.
I thought, ok, Vista no more, formated primary partition again, and tryied with XP. After the first restart, (I mean the restart you get while installing os), same old same old.
Anyhow, my friend got a new one instead of it, but I am still thinking what could have been the problem. I mean, I've installed operating systems all my life, and this sh*t never happened before.
My last conclusion was that it is due to hardware malfunction. Would that be a good point?

Sounds like either faulty memory or hard drive. Both happen!

That was a hardware problem. Sounds like memory issue but it could be also many other things that could affect the system in some weird way.

From the description you gave nobody can answer your question with any level of accuracy without diagnosing it.

Ok that make me thinking ...I have Sony Vaio and I have Windows Vista as well...its a new laptop and few times just freeze...I can not do anything not even to shut down or restart it properly and i need to take out the battery or the charger. :(

I was thinking to take it to a professional to have a look tomorrow since i dont really have a clue from all this stuff... I wonder is the Windows Vista that cause all this or the laptop?? :(

I have similar probs with my new laptop. What the AOL people said is that it was my firewall and other security issues. I had attempted to instal programs without turning off all the security crap first, and then turning the Firewall back on. GR is the expert. As he sez could be one of many reasons. Maybe these faults are inbuilt to keep the Computer Engineers in good nick!
