The fact that your leadership changed the names of all our villages is offensive by itself, I leave aside the fact that once you learn the real name of a village (like Ayios Amvrosios) you should use that one and not the faque one.Who said Morfou should be called Guzelyurt for example? Although I understand thats a direct translation anyway-I do appreciate that the aged TCs still refuse to call it Guzelyurt and they use the real name of Morfou.
Would you like someone coming here changing the name of our capital from Lefkosia to lets say the Arab name Muharaq?

Why do we (the GCs) keep on using the Turkish names of your places like Kocati, Tuz hane, Piale Pasa etc?Isn't that to show respect to your tradition and culture and to leave the door open for a solution? Changing the names of places was a clear effort to shut the door for a solution and you know that. Although you might not know the real names of villages, once you learn them, you should use those ones as an indication that you opose this door shutting.

He,he,he.
That's right Piratis. The fact is that I adopted the anarchist ideology in the past but soon after I saw what they were doing (burning cars-shops-and practically JUST ONLY committing violence) I declined to a heretic, adopting only some part of the anarchist ideology that has to do with freedom.

Ayie this "Banme BanMe" does not show respect to the forum. It rather shows you don't care either you are in or out of here. So choose where you want to be. IN or OUT? If you want to be IN you must start combining your "funnny tone" (which I personally like) with serious arguments. Otherwise it is a waste of both yours and our time.
Secondly you must understand the TCs are Cypriots too, suffered as much as we did, and try to put yourself in their shoes. What we are trying here is to contribute towards a solution. and perhaps prepare the ground for the days after that.

PS. I see you already started doing so in the thread "Cyprus Problem-how can we solve it". Keep it up man.

Is this true?

This is true and it's true not only for Morphou but most other cities/villages named in Greek. The older generation never got used to the new names and my father still refers to many previous GC villages with their original names. My generation is another story though. I had no idea about the Greek names until I was 18 or so. Now, whenever I pass through a village, I try to learn the old Greek name as well.

Guzelyurt means beautiful country. Guzel means beautiful, yurt mean country/province. I heard Bellapais means the same?

Not because they refuse to call it with the new name but because of their long lasted old customs. In North noone minds whether one call it Omorfo and another
Code: Select all
Güzelyurt
.

Once the all the mixed villages had one Turkish and one Greek name. While there were some mixed villages named almost similarly sounding names, there were also some mixed villages which their Turkish and Greek name were completely different e.g Mari/
Code: Select all
Tatlısu
.

Let me give you a good example of Greek Cypriots showing a stubborn attitude towards Turkish Cypriots regarding names of cities,

GC guy asks TC guy, do you know the way to Krenyia?
TC man thinks yes he asks do you mean Kyrenia?
GC man is adamant and perisitant with name Krenyia
TC turns to his wife and says do you think he wants Girne? wife says i dont know.
TC man is confused and worried that if he sends GC to Kyrenia and its not the place he wants the GC will think badly of him , so despite his good intentions the TC man opts for the answer " sorry I cant help you".

If only the GC man was a bit more flexible and clairified that Krenyia and Kyrenia are the same city the TC man who was going in that direction could have taken him with his car. The GC walked all the way to Kyrenia, Krenyia, Girne.

Men this forum is loosing it a little bit more everyday,

Now we are discussing the street names or city/village names. What the fuck is the difference. I personally do not care if a street is called Grivas or Makarios or turkcyp, or Piratis, and I simply again do not care if a place is called Guzelyurt, Morfou, or xx. yy....

We are discussing packaging here instead of talking about content. Let's get the content first then I am more then willing to name is the way GCs like to name it.

Let's get the solution parameters rights and I do not even care if the name of the unified Cyprus is called Hellenic Kingdom Of Cyprus.

So why do you bother to reply such a f***in' discussion instead of focusing yourself upon other topics. Everyone is free to talk about whatever he/she wants man. Lately, you interfered 2 or 3 threads in such a disturbing and nerdly manner.
