Just heard in the news 4,6r and people felt it in Larnaca which was the center and Nicosia as well. The center of the earthquake was in Aradipou.

Intensity of 4.8 Richter is an almost daily occurence in Greece. Still scary though!

Aradhippou is an unexpected place for epicenter. One thing to be careful about is whether this will be followed by more shakes and when that happens it sucks! You cant relax because you are expecting the next one or the big one.

Oranos, you are scaring people with this talk of huge tidla waves and 8 richter! At that intensity nothing will be left standing. HOw did you get that forecast? A tidal wave from Thira would reach Cyprus? That would be bad.

ela nikita ...how is Greece ...my brothers are out there ...i have 5 guys out there from my volunteer group

my father use to work for the british geological services ...my dads friend sent me to thira ... i study the data from there every two weeks ....

arathippou is where i live ...i dont get it unless the plates moved ,...two weeks ago i took pictures on the ayia napa highway of a crack in the mud rocks ....that was two feet wide ...my friend Tasos a sesmioligist for CYP government says we are due a few quakes now in this heat
We have cats ...they are indoors and one is on my bed ...dogs are not barking but they are a good sign of more ....we have a pigoen which is going mentall ....

thira woll blow in the next 5-7 years

There is a good deal of data on thira ... The stuff i read is about a tidal wave and a magitude of at least 8 .....it is overdue ....

that would produce a wave of 60-100 feet ....

im i wrong to print that on the forum ,,,not really check a few websites ....same data .... wont reach inland ,..but will hit kyrenia and north coast .....will hit KOS ,RHODES SOUTHERN TURKEY ,EGYPT ,not forgeting naxos ,paros ....

better still check the tenerife ....data ....thats due soon too .....los gigantes ......two months ago ...florida state ...was told to be aware a tidal wave reaching them ......

As a Tersefanou resident I can attest to the validity of the quake. The entire house shook violently for 5 seconds..no damage...scared the hell out of my wife...I went back to sleep.
