That 1877 photo of Nicosia Bazaar is an eye opener. Every shopkeeper is wearing rather sharp western clothes! Yet the country folk in other photos of the same period seem to be dirt poor and still in peasant dress. Gives a perspective on the way of life of our great grandfathers.
