Is it out of the question that these arsonists started the blaze to create possible real estate land in Greece. It happens all over the Med and I wouldnt put it past one of these sick greedy f*ckers to have started a fire in a forest because it could be potentialy valuable real estate land - only then for the fire to grow out of control.

Fire-fighters saved temples and stadiums of ancient Olympia.
The Greek government, which declared a nationwide state of emergency on Saturday, believes that arsonists are behind the worst fires to hit the country in decades.

They have offered rewards of up to one million euros to help track down the fire starters.

Many local mayors have accused rogue developers of setting light to land to make way for new construction projects on virgin forest and farm land.

So far police have arrested four people on suspicion of arson.

I'm watching the news and 31 people have been arrested. They've just been showing a photo taken by NASA and you can really see the extent of the fire. :( :( :(

Apparently there have been more than 3,000 fires in Greece since June of this year, record temperatures have been blamed for a vast number of them although arsonists are also suspected.

With those being charged with arson for the current spate of fires, there are fifteen suspected arsonists and eighteen charged with causing fire by negligence.

The fires are still raging in many areas and I believe the latest body count has reached 67.

I believe this to be the latest news, we will have to wait and see what further developments take place. :(

The total number of deaths as a result of forest fires in Greece this year now stands at 72, the area of destruction of forestry and vegetation has been estimated at 500,000 acres, it will take many years to re-establish itself. :(
