This looks like a snappy, fun sort of forum. :lol:
But, I see you are mostly divided into two teams;

The Pro-Turks and the Anti-Turks (with a few by-standers).

One team seems to have a gain on the intellectual and moral high ground.

Do we have to join one or the other to experience the full effect? Decisions, decisions :!:

Welcome Mr Multilinguist Phoenix. Could you add a 'gunaydin' to your vocabulary :lol: . There are a few of us who would understand the TC word for Good Morning.

Gunaydin, gunaydin to all :D

Denizaksulu, come closer. . . are you sure it's good morning? Gunaydin sounds like Goodnight :!:

Oh well, that may explain a lot. :wink:

Lesson !) gun=day aydin=bright put together you get have a bright day=goodmorning. Ok?

If I was Ludwig Wittgenstein, I could have a lot of fun with a critique on the association between "gun" and "day" and what it could do to the Turkish Psyche. :wink:

But this was meant to be my "ouvrant" thread, so I'll just say

. . . . . . :D :D BRIGHTDAY :D :D ; which sounds nice.

for the word 'gun' The 'U' has the two dots on it( the Grman Umlatt). The best approximation of the sound will be the 'U' sound in tube. Or if you are an Arsenal supporter, you are a 'gunner' or a 'gooner' . The 'I' in the last sylable is without the dot, and the nearest sound approximation is 'ound you might make when you see something revolting, you might go 'iiiiiii'.Difficult to describe.
The goon for 'gun' + eye for' AY' + I = goon-eye-dn.

Karma heeelp!!!

Till reinforcements arrive that might do. Goon-eye-dn
