Rain!

Postby devil » Sat Aug 25, 2007 12:56 pm

After 74 days without a drop, it is raining (a little) today, here in Mosfiloti. At the time of writing this message, we have received 0.8 mm, which is next-to-nothing; I would much prefer 10-15 mm/h for 8-10 hours! Then I'm greedy!

You can see the current rainfall at this site

Concomitant with this rain is a drop of temperature by a massive 11½°C and a rise of RH by an equally massive 52% and a moderately high gust of 10.3 m/s.

Windows Vista (plus a couple of weather sites) says it is 32 degrees in Limassol. With storms and stuff. Can't see it at the minute, and I have a good view all around...

Cheers

how you make Windows Vista tell you the weather
The sidebar can add gadgets. One of the ones that comes with Vista is a simple weather gadget. Simply shows the temperature and a little graphic of what the weather is like. Currently looks like the moon, but earlier on was a storm. I also used quite a lot of stuff on XP for weather prediction (including add ons for IE and Firefox that show the next 5 days forecast at the bottom of the window).

One of the best was a DesktopX widget that showed two different locations at once. Was always fun to have Limassol as one of the locations, and Slough in the UK as the other. Mainly because I contract for the company I used to work for in the UK and is good to feel happy when talking to the main support desk woman there who tends to ask me "So are you regretting moving to Cyprus *yet*?". Yeah, yeah, it's hot and sunny, and I can see the sea and beach from the window that I work from (across the hall from where I sleep), did you enjoy your caravan holiday in the rain? :)

Cheers

back in 90s ..
.i read articles in government magazines of Russian cold war era ....government inititives ....emergency planning and reaction
this where the population per district where trained in emergency responce drills ...ie ...people living in forest areas ...were trained to understand forest fires and how to escape them and tackle fire movements ...earthquake training in Japan etc

Why hasnt southern Europe = ITALY ,SPAIN,GREECE,TURKEY,CYPRUS,FRANCE ETC ...done the same ...especially the E.U members we have had fires ,floods for over a decade ...yet still no planning /training programs

anyone know better .....?
