I found the Ottoman Census.
It reveals that in 1571 there was a total of 197.586 people living in Cyprus. Because of plagues, droughts etc. and something to do with crickets (:?: )the population dropped to 80.000.
According to Bishop Kyprianos in 1777 the population consisted of 47.000 Turks and 37.000 Greeks.
The British Census of 1881 states there were 186.173 people living in Cyprus. The population grew quickly, just before WWI (1911) 274.108 people, before WWII (1931) 347.959, after (1946) 450.114 and in 1952 500.000 people!
Where did they all come from?
And some of you call TCs "visitors"
You have more settlers than we do!!!!!!!!!!!
