Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stressed that Turkey will not let the usurpation of any rights of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus while proceeding on the European Union process.
Turkish Premier touched upon the Cyprus issue at a TV program on a private Turkish TV Channel he attended last night.
Responding to a question concerning the opening of the Turkish ports to the Greek Cypriot traffic Mr. Erdogan stated that Turkey’s position is so clear on the issue and added that Turkey will say yes to this only when mutual steps will be taken.
He added that Turkey had shown its good will intention on the issue during Finland and Germany’s term presidency.
Stating that Turkey will not let the usurpation of any rights of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mr. Erdogan said the TRNC will gain something with every step to be taken.
He also reminded that during Germany’s EU Term Presidency three new chapters were opened for negotiations and added that works are continuing on these chapters.
