I never said that there was anything wrong with the Greek flag. If you are Greek, then fly it to your heart's content and use it as your avatar. If you are Cypriot, then there is nothing wrong with flying the Cypriot flag, but the Greek flag belongs to a foreign sovereign state, not to Cyprus. Have you no pride in your country?

And my brother came from one mother. I don't know where you come from that you think he could be such an anatomical freak to have come from the womb of two different mothers. Strikes me you are a crazy mixed-up kid!

And for your info, I first came to Cyprus in 1952 and I do live here and I do see more foreign flags in this country than I do Cyprus ones and I do find it an offence to the sovereign state of Cyprus, whether it be red and white or blue and white. Just to remind you what it looks like:

The problem my friend is that this certain Cyprus flag impossed to us. Is not our flag is just a flag of necessity- no other way but to fly it because some others decide so. Personally i do not find any difference between the certain flag and the one suggested in Annan plan-Both were impossed.

The only thing is that we oblidge to regognise this flag since we do not have any alternative for known reasons.

Wrong. This flag was not imposed on us. It was the result of a competition and was designed by a Cypriot and was freely adopted in 1960. It is the official flag of the Republic of Cyprus, embodying both communities. People like you who decry it are insulting your own country.

Bringing things kicking and screaming back on topic.....it is quite distressing the direction russia is going. Putin has gone on record before saying what a loss the collapse of the soviet union was and is obviously very sore about all the ex soviet state countries gaining indepence. After that whole debacle at G8....this seems to be another agression towards western states.....wish we could find out more about why exactly this bomber was heading in Britains direction...but suspect that thats pretty much all we're going to get....

Oh!!You may be right. I remember that ,sudently a morning of 1960 the population of Cyprus demostrated in streets shouting" pls pls make us a flag!!pls we urgently need a flag"and then it was produced as per people request!!!!!

And do you know who chose the Cyprus flag? The President and Vice-President of the Republic, so every time you insult it, as you have done, you are insulting the memory of President Makarios and Vice-President Kucuk (sorry no diacritical marks readily on this keyboard).

Hobx, I agree that Russia is once again showing it's oppressive nature.
It flirted with democracy but soon went back to its old ways of bullying it's neighbours ( it warning the czech and poles again ) and it won't be long before the west is at it's mercy for energy supplies.
The sooner we build more nuclear power plants the better.
They've even started summer 'anti-west' camps for their youth, hopefully the americans will put them back in their place in the near future.

Steve....very good point... I had forgotten about the energy stranglehold russia has on Europe. I don't think the yanks can afford another war just yet...especially as they seem to have Iran in their radar next...

Out of interests....what do the power plants in Cyprus run on, anybody? Could do with a couple of Nuclear plants here to keep all those air conditioners running smoothly...

Well, if you receive so many complaints, then you ought not to offend the sensibilities of so many, myself included. If Greece is your motherland, then do not pretend you are Cypriot: you cannot have two mothers.

Thanks for your concern but Cyprus doesn't need a mother or a father anymore because she's all grown up.
