Is just created a night and given to people , like the one in Annan plan- What is the difference between the two? Nothing, both are just a piece of cloth with no history, with no one to fight or feel proud for them

EPSILON, why don't you tell us what kind of a better flag and with "more" history would you have proposed for Cyprus? Or you do not recognize the existence of Cyprus (RoC) as an independed nation-state, just like the Turks, who only recognize the existence of the “TRNC” in the north and the “GRSC” (Greek Republic of Southern Cyprus) in the south!

Tell us for once what you are up to, with your presence in this forum, because I have yet to make the slightest sense from your posts! Do you know what you want? I think you have no clue!

For a reconciliatin flag of Cyprus, my thoughts are thus:

Image

The yellow triangle represents Cyprus, while the Red and blue lines represent both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot people. The meaning of the overall flag is that both communities come together to forge a common path for the island. The white background represents peace.

An idealistic vision for a situation that I beleive is beyond repair, but here it is anyway...

Expatkiwi, I think your suggestion for a flag is quite reasonable (bearing in mind your explanation of the meanings contained in it) however, the fact that you have placed the 'Red' chevron in the upper position may be seen by some as a sign of Turkish dominance.

If you reverse the chevrons, the same argument will apply in respect of the Greeks.

Perhaps if both chevrons were 'Purple' the colour issues would be solved and the message would be that both sides have successfully mixed, only problem there is that the flag would look awful and would almost certainly give rise to more arguments.

Nothing new there then 'eh mate ?.

  Nice try.

I looks like a map of the london underground. Jubilee line in red and victoria in blue. As for the yellow, well thats just Paddington station

Any other offers?

Correct me if i am wrong, but i read here somewhere that is was a TC (child?) that won the flag competition? If a child sees it a one cyprus, why hell hell can't everyone else? Just a thought. But nice try though.

Hopefully any flag of Cyprus would be one that Cypriots would be proud of and one that will bring people together as opposed to perpertuate division and separation.
