I've seen alot of people in "tourist restaurants" wearing shorts. Personally speaking, I prefer wearing either a pair of trousers or nice jeans at a restaurant.

It depends on the restaurant really. You should be ok at the ones on the seaside. I've ordered dinner before at 10.00 pm no problems but if you're unlucky there's always McDonalds etc..

You would be more respectful to the Cypriots by wearing "longs".Also it gives you a better chance of not being bitten by the bugs. Hate to see men or women in shorts in the evening in a nice restaurant.

Shorts are bad manners in restaurants in the evening to say the least. Some restaurants refuse entry if you are not decently dressed.

A nice pair of light (possibly linen) long trousers are the safest bet for evening wear, it shows a little respect surely.

Due to the hot weather, I think the restaurateurs do accept a little more casuality (if there is such a word) in dress code, I do not think this acceptance stretches to the wearing of shorts however.
