I don't see bank employees in shorts, so neither should their customers be so attired
Why? They are doing business for me. Although personally I don't care what they dress in if they could reduce the damn queues. I used to do a lot of meetings with clients, and we always wore suits, but they used to wear whatever they liked. What is the difference?
I work as a programmer and one thing I always thought was seriously old fashion was the rule that we had to wear suits and ties. Considering we never saw any customers at the time, and that programmers often look like hermits if they get their own way (college basically), then I really didn't see the point. Tie that in with the fact that at the time they banned women from wearing trousers (only skirts and dresses) and you would think it was 1955, not 1995. They soon dropped those stupid ideas a few years later. Unfortuantly I work in travel and IT, and both fell to pieces just after 911, and the company that took us over also had draconian laws (not the skirt thing though). Now I contract from home, and where before I never wore shorts, I now have them on all the damn time.
And yes, I look like a hermit most of the time... hmmm. What's my point again?...
Cheers
