Ferries

Hi,

I would like to visit Cyprus by motorcycle. Are there any ferries? I read that it was possible via Athens from Ancona but I can't find anything....

Hi Mick,
I believe you can get a ferry from Solerno (west Italy) to Limassol. If you check this site it may help you.

As a non flier I have been forced to investigate boats between Greece and Cyprus.

There is a commercial line that will take you if you travel with a vehicle- Salamis lines, leaves Piraeus twice weekly, the trip takes two days, actually you leave on the evening of day one and arrive midday day three in Limassol. Telephone Salamis in Greece 210-452 9555. This being a freighter expect on luxury! Your fellow passengers will be TIR truck drivers and the only on board entertainment an old video player. You get your own coffee and drinks from the galley. A novel experience!

In addition Louis Cruises has one way passenger and vehicle travel on their ship Princesa Marissa. Call them at 210-4291423.

Can you get a ferry from Turkey to the north and then cross the green line or is that a non starter?

A friend of mine did it the other way (Cyprus to the UK via Turkey and the occupied areas in the North).

To be honest, I’m not sure if you would have any problems at the customs coming the other way on a vehicle with UK ‘plates.

Wouldn't you have problems as you would have arrived at an illegal port of entry and therefore face problems when coming over to the legal part.

That’s what I was thinking but I’m not sure if it would be ‘picked up’ or not when you got here…
