Why don't you tell our friend Epsilon about the research re the Cypriot
gene pool, brother Kifeas. How it has been scientifically proved that we have the same gene pool which is distinct from those of the mainlanders.

Which proves that Cypriots cannot be separated ethnically or biologically or genetically or culturally. But only by two manmade factors, language and religion. And tell him also that for most Cypriots organised religion is considered as superstition...And it would only take one year and a bit of effort to learn the other language... :) 8)

depends on the age BK, if u r 50 sth, I am afraid U ll able to learn only the Greek Alphabet in 1 year and may be to count till 10 if you are lucky

Kikapu,

Thanks for the new perspective re the Turkish unwillingness to have the TRNC internationally recognised. I had never thought about it in those terms. But now that I think of it, an independent country with foreign embassies in northern Nicosia, would gradually drift away from mainland Turkish control, and there would no longer be any excuse to station 40 000 troops there.

I have heard the corresponding view from a political analyst here in Greece who is convinced that the Republic of Cyprus should cede 18 per cent to the Turkish community and become the first state to recognise the TRNC thereby forcing Turkey to follow suit. His point was that the trap set for the whole of Cyprus through the occupation would thus cease to operate with full independence and recognition and the two communities would then be forced to reunite the island because that is the only viable way to survive in the future. In his words "there is no room for more than one country on the island". Interesting thoughts.

It has already been proven,my friend. There is a whole thread of it somewhere.Perhaps someone who is not dead tired and falling asleep can dig it up for Epsilon. 8)

Well, the problem is, the TC's will not accept 18%.

Trust me, Piratis has tried.
