Nova PVR

Postby Sotos » Mon Aug 20, 2007 1:48 pm

I have NOVA Greece and I want to get the PVR system so I can watch two different channels on two TVs. Do you know if installers here install this system? Do I have to buy the exact equipment as they sell it from Nova or I can get a cheaper one? I don't need the recording and all the other functions, just to watch on two TVs.

The only way I know of getting 2 different channels at the same time is to buy another box and card.

Sorry Sotos that i cant help with your question but i have heared about nova greece from a friend of mine that runs a bar. Is it the one where you have like 6 super sport channels and on a saturday it shows every premier league football match? I was very interested in it but havent been able to locate an installer, all i could find was nova cyprus. Could you please tell me the name of your installer and the price please. I asked the guy in the bar and the previous owner had sorted it out ill ask him about the PVR system tho next time im there he might have an idea about that.

Cheers

Most installers do Nova Hellas. Mine was Astro Sat here is another one with website: http://www.titosat.com/ . Most people that get Nova Hellas do it because they want to watch the Greek TV channels. Except from that Nova Cyprus is more or less the same. Nova Cyprus also has something like 6 SuperSport Channels.

if you speak Greek

http://www.nova.gr/gr/pvr/pdf/Section_3 ... to%208.pdf

This is the installation instructions, you will need to change your LNB with a triple LNB and you send the signal to the second set via an RF cable.

Any satellite installer should be able to install this.

Thanks Strahd. But do I need the exact same equipment that they sell at Nova? I only need to watch on 2 TVs and not the option to record a 3rd channel at the same time so maybe a twin LNB will do?

I do not know about that... maybe you could contact Nova directly.

I will just get in touch with an installer. I don't want to contact nova because legally I am not allowed to have Nova GR in Cyprus and anyways they would for sure try to sell me their own thing.

You don't need another LNB to send the signal via RF to another set. Just connect via the decoder box RF into another tv and you'll get a signal. If you want to change the channel you need an IR remote extender connected to the decoder box and the receiving tv.

We did that before but in that way you can not watch two DIFFERENT channels on the two TVs ;) I couldn't find the NOVA PVR system in Cyprus so the only way is card sharing. You get two special receivers and you connect them with a CAT-5 cable through a router. One receiver has the Nova card and the other shares it through the network. The equipment is a bit more expensive than the official Nova PVR but this way you don't pay any additional subscription
