Sorry to contradict, but the temperature is well down, even under average, for the past 2 weeks, but the humidity is abnormally high, making it very uncomfortable. As I write, the temp here is only 32.7°C but the relative humidity is a whacking 54% - and that's inland! On the coast, it's 70-74% (see
http://www.cypenv.org/weather/index.php). Compare that to the RH on 9 July of this year, when the RH dropped to a record low of 7%. I suggest that, inland, the usual RH for temps in the mid-30s is about 15-20%, not in the 50s.
The last week of July had both high temperatures and humidities. Here, the temp rose to 42.4° on the 28th but the most uncomfortable day was the 31st, where the heat index rose to 48.2 (the HI is derived from a combination of temperature, humidity and wind speed and represents what the temperature
feels like to a human under conditions of normal humidity and wind). In fact, the real temperature hardly touched 40°, even though it felt like 48° because of the high humidity. The current heat index is 37.4, with the temp less than 33°, so you can see that it is higher by >4° because of the humidity.
