A word of warning: alcohol is not recommended in hot, humid weather, even beer. When the body metabolises alcohol, it increases the temperature of the internal organs, including the brain, and you feel even hotter in the long run, mainly because you ARE hotter!. Cool water (not ice-cold) at 10-12° is the best, most refreshing, drink and you can add as much fruit juice as you like, but avoid very sweet drinks like Coke or squashes, as they, too, cause the body to produce heat.
If you are digging the garden or running a marathon, you can take in some sweet stuff, in moderation.
By this, I am not saying that you cannot have a glass of wine or a beer with a meal, especially in the evening, but moderation is the order of the day, if you wish to stay cool.
