To take your example I would have thought the child would be Cypriot of English parentage. A child born and registered in England whose parents were from Cyprus would be English of Cypriot parentage.
I remain Cypriot whether I happen to be in England, Norway, Africa, Middle East, America or anywhere else where my work takes me. My area of expertise is in sub sea oil & Gas production or any sub sea work really so you see there has not been too much work to keep me on the Island full time & what may come to pass in years to come will come too late for me other than in a consultative capacity.
To be honest I have lost your logic somewhere along the line with all the digressions & if I am not mistaken this thread was about language or bad language consequently in view of unanswered questions and in view of your only being on the Island for three years perhaps we can agree to move on. I am not altogether sure however if I deserve to be classified as ‘trendy’, as much as I have taken great delight in telling my children that I can claim to be – I think!! They however are not convinced.

Good for you, if you are English why should you not be proud.
I have a very good friend of mine from Sri Lanka, he too is proud of his roots & why not.
I must confess to being a little confused to Mr oranos64 referring to "English Cypriot" being claimed by Cypriots in UK, I'm here on an intermediate posting, I'm not sure I could claim that not even if I bought my whole family to the UK for a holiday. I actually don't even know of any in Cheshire, Lowestoft or Aberdeen but I guess I must take his word for it.
Would it be too rude of me to ask what part of England you are from, I have been fortunate enough to manage visits to much of it except much of what is North of my current location. Scotland including Shetland I have been posted to for extended periods.
Best regards
