Go on GR, put the boot in mate
Bananiot for president.

GR wrote:Today it is possible to talk about a potential “solution” to the Cyprus problem because the Republic of Cyprus has successfully kept the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” unrecognized. Had that not been achieved then nobody would be talking about any kind of “reunion” today.
One can therefore easily conclude that the deprivation of the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” is a principal ingredient to the preservation of the contiguousness of Cypriot territory.
also as a arsenal fan ..i have nothing against TRNC flags at the staduim ..it just reflects the nationalities of the locals ....

Am I really? Here's two quotes from another forum...cypezokyli wrote:somehow they have confused the targets, and instead of the target being a solution, the target has become the non-recognition of the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus".GR wrote:Today it is possible to talk about a potential “solution” to the Cyprus problem because the Republic of Cyprus has successfully kept the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” unrecognized. Would you still like the flag of the northern Cyprus illegal occupation hung next to a Turkish one with an image of Ataturk in the corner? Because it was. The same guy who hung the flags was also a member of Embargoed.
Remember there are a LOT of Cypriot Arsenal fans who go to the games and many are refugees of the Turkish invasion. The 'TRNC' flag is not just a state flag, it represents an illegal entity born from the ethnic cleansing of many people who are AT those Arsenal matches. Why should those Cypriot Arsenal fans put up with such a blatent brunt of nationalism with symbols that are deemed to represent something illegal by the ECHR and international community? They dont go to football matches to be reminded of politics. If the British National Party symbols (which is a party LESS extreme than those incharge of the 'TRNC / Northern Cyprus'), or the Swastika is not allowed at the ground...then why should the 'TRNC / Northern Cyprus' flag be allowed????
GOOD POINT BRO ....but then you can take your CYPRIOT FLAG ... OF COURSE YOU CAN ..BECAUSE WHEN I WAS STANDING IN THE NORTH BANK WE USE TO ..AND WE HAD CYP FLAGS WITH THE GOONER CANON ..
(also i have been to martial arts events and both flags flew next to one another ,,,with no problem ...)

cypezokyli has hit the nail on the head. Your point is valid to a certain extent. Just a tiny bit of good will from the RoC would go a long way with the TCs. A game of friendly football would not have been the beginning of the end for reunification.
Btw, I really enjoyed our meeting at Flo's. Perhaps we can do it again on my next visit.
