Which college to choose?

Postby cyprus123 » Wed Aug 15, 2007 11:56 pm

Hi everyone!

I was hoping that some of you can help me decide which college to go to in Cyprus. I'm not from Cyprus so I am not very familiar with colleges and what not so I'd be very grateful in any help you can give me.

I'm trying to decide whether to go to Cyprus College or Intercollege. I've heard that Intercollege is more reputable but is this true?

I'm hoping to study Banking and Finance and I know that the degree offered by Cyprus College is accredited (recognised worldwide) and this is not true for Intercollege but will this make a difference?

I guess it all comes down to the accreditation status of the degree right? Therefore Cyprus College would be the normal choice as it is accredited but isn't Intercollege viewed as a superior college to study at?

Also, do employers in Cyprus warm to graduates who have a degree from a Cyprus college or do they prefer students who study in country's such as the US and UK?

I'm so confused, please help. Thanks in advance.

Dear Cyprus123, welcome to the forum!

Well if your subject will be banking and Finance as you said my suggestion is to chose Cyprus College.

Both colleges are very good...are our top colleges and soon private Universities. Well Intercollege is the best according to many things and I graduated from that one 1 year ago. Its is the biggest and the most popular college but in your subject the degree from Cyprus College is the best...when it comes to Banking and Finance Cyprus College IS the best.

Employers will see other things not that. Any other degrees working experience etc. From what I know that dont count that much about the first degree (bachelor degree).

Thanks LENA, really appreciate the information.

I didn't know both the colleges are turning into universities...do you know when that will happen?

I think this September they are becoming Universities

I visited both, and I liked the atmosphere and look of Intercollege but I think in your situation you should go to the one which the degree you are doing is more recognised, to which you said was Cyprus College

Hey Spetz, sorry I can't send private messages for some reason.

What was the difference between the atmosphere of Intercollege compared to Cyprus College? I've only seen pictures and Intercollege looks more modern.

This September as they said....but to be honest i will believe it when that happen. I hear that for a while...anyway Intercollege...is more modern, has better facilities and a lot more than Cyprus Collage...the level of Education is very high and has big library etc. Cyprus College is doing some changes and recently build new modern buildings.
