How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Miltiades
Not to curse is a virtue , to forgive is noble , but to hate is evil

Miltiades, thank you for the words of wisdom. I appreciate that.

Why do you think that hero turks could be called an oxymoron

From what I understand the word oxymoron means a contradiction in terms (correct me if I'm wrong)

So how can a Hero Turk be an oxymoron

Are you trying to say that the words Hero and Turk are contradictions?

I personally dont know any Hero Turks but others might and its certainly not an oxymoron

Thank you Dick.
That is precisely what I mean. I too share your lack of insights into any Hero-Turks which is precisely why I was offering this opportunity for us all to be enlightened.
However, from the response so far, I sense a a struggle to nominate anyone.
So any assumption that Hero-Turk may be an Oxymoron may sadly remain so.
Unless, and THINK REALLY HARD, no excuses 'cos you hate me, I know you do (somehow I sense it), but be sure it is NOT reciprocated.

Surely, there is just ONE Turk that does you proud!

Okay, we have the first nomination from T-C for his....ehm... grandad (sorry, name and details not supplied).
Do you care to expand with some worthy accolades for your hero-worship of this dashing looking Turk.

(Kidding aside, go on tell us what warms the cockles of your heart about your Hero). :)

The man in the picture is Bulent Ecevit...a Turkish writer, poet, jounalist and most importantly a POLITICIAN!

He became Prime minister in 1972....you can figure out the rest for yourself...

Sotos sodoff: Off thread

Cor blimey, I wish you Turks would just stop ordering us about tonight. You are really getting on my t...... tether!

Considering you are the one, Den of Inequity, who led to the emergence of this thread, you had better get your thinking cap on and come up with a worthy Hero-Turk (and I will refrain from calling that an oxymoron).

Well, are there any Turks that anyone worships or are you all cowering behind your politically correct labels of True-Cypriots.

Alparslan for one, the hero of Manzikert/Malazgirt circa 1071, comes to mind, one of many. I could name others, but I would not want to give you the satisfaction. Just a mild reminder of things to come. A medieval solder/gentleman.

Good start with the info.
But we DO need some details on what he means to you.

This is just a learning exercise remember, and we need some convincing reasons for YOUR choice above ALL the other possible Hero-Turks you could have chosen.

Don't let Zan intimidate you by the way.

Thanks Denizaksulu, I knew you would come up tramps. :)

But, for educational purposes, please share some details that make him great in your eyes.
I for one know absolutely nothing about this putative Hero-Turk.
