STAVS

Postby twinkle » Tue Aug 14, 2007 9:37 am

After venturing into Carrefour in Larnaca last night and being hit by the deluge of English/Cyps that are visiting at the mo I have renamed them Stavs. Yes, the name is a take on of Chav but with the Cypriot twist. The baggy shorts showing off their designer undies, the goldie looking chains and lots of jewellery.

Before I moved here over 7 years ago, did I use to walk around like my poo smelt of roses and thinking everyone that actually lived in Cyprus was backwards???? Please tell me I was different.

Twinkle, I was about to start a similar thread about this subject yesterday after seeing a Eng/Cyp family enter a 5 star hotel bar with 4 little kids. The father (wearing shorts and sandals) sat down, took his shoes off and put his bare feet on another chair and was shouting orders to the waiters while they encouraged the children to run around the dance floor screaming at the top of their voices. This went on for more then 1.5 hours in which time most other guest slowly made their way out in disgust. When I mentioned this to my wife, she thought I was over reacting.

Was at the beach yesterday and had the "Satv" family from hell come and sit on the sun loungers next to me. The loudest and foulmouthed people you can imagine with the naughtiest kids you will ever see, well at least the son was, and he was about 10. The women talking in their "North London Gorrigirl" accents whilst the men thought they knew everything about anything.

When they all went in the water, I couldn't help but hope they'd all drown to give me and everyone else some peace and quiet. I even heard a few tuts from behind me from other families aimed at the Stavs.

If looks could kill, I'd have been charged with murder.

So it isn't me....We weren't like that? Society in the UK has turned them into wannabe celebrities with foul mouths, bad behaviour, bad dress sense and no manners, with dodgy tattoos and body piercing (that's just the women)!!!!! North London must be empty. Oh well, by the 31st Larnaca will be back to normal.

God, man...innit!

Perhaps they're on day-release from the kennel behind my house. The out of control yapping and the total ignorance of the owners towards every other soul in the area, who these 'kids' keep awake every damned night, sounds about the same!
