Avanapa wrote:The same thing happens here in the UK if you call to police with a complaint, thats not peculiar to Cyprus. Its just as Lena explained. They get hundreds of calls a day about all sorts of daft things. A cop friend of mine told me of a guy who phoned them as he could,nt sleep after his night shift because of the incessant chirping of birds in his garden tree. He says that as much as 35% of calls are of similar rubbish and they have to get your details as these calls still have to be registered.

P.S.

I appreciate the crank calls, but the police already had my name, address and my phone number - they called me back. If they really wanted to get me, they can!!

Webbo, I have many friend in the police force. Well its true what Avanapa said...my friend tell me some crazy stories as well...like calling police to call to someones boyfriend to tell him/her that she/he loves them...that they dont have electricity and other stuff.

I know that many times policemen or police women might not pay attention...when i went to report that i lost my wallet in case someone find it ... they didnt even ask me anything apart from the color...they usually need to ask you what you had inside give you a paper saying that you lost it to get new ID, advice you to cancel your carts in case you dont know etc...but they didnt and I had to tell them to give me that paper.

By the way I am not sure what they can do in that situation. Tell to the dog not to bark?? Or tell to the owner to give away the dog??

I rang the police 3 weeks ago as the neighbour out the back was beating his wife/girlfriend, they told me me that they where on ther way, never even asked my address and when i asked them if they needed an address, they told me, that all details about me they get from my phone number when making the call was all they needed. Sadly they (the police) have still have not arrived, luckily ambulance did 2 hours latter

Ta for all that. Not sure what they should do about the poor dog but surely it must have a better life if they were told to 'give it up'. I can count on 2 hands how many times that poor dog has been taken out for a walk and she is about 18months old now. Now that is what I call cruelty.

A sad :( :( :( sign of the times methinks!! See Lena's s post too, not bothered - too much paperwork methinks!! Hope your poor neighbour was ok in the end and did not return to her violent partner.

I may try approaching the office where I registered our dog and see if I have any luck there.   Will keep you posted.

Cheers

Yep, poor little mite is bored and in dire need of much love and attention. She was fine when she was little and cute and had attention (they even played with her a few times on their drive!) Now, she is just forgotton about and ignored!! :( :( :( :(
