Do you think that religion ( all god fearing types ) have been beneficial to mankind or has it restricted our growth as a species

What do you mean by god-fearing, as opposed to God-fearing? If Thor or Zeus existed, I might be god-fearing, but I don't fear God. You cannot be afraid of He who loves you and you love. Furthermore, your question is unanswerable, because we have no yardstick by which to measure the alternatives.

well depends on the time.. for example, we all know when church would ban scientist from studying their beliefs (the famous davinci who was forced to deny his beliefs on space etc) but today fortunately religion cant get in the way of evolution and science. I hope not at least

Do you really know anything about Islam or is this remark just a perceived notion?

Naaaah! 'Religion' has merely been one of the uniforms adopted by aggressive nations, tribes and false priests when committing genocide or other types of aggression and suppression which comes natural to them but has nothing to do with religion.

'That holy shape becomes a devil best'

This thread will now develope into a series of anti West anti Islam arguments and have nothing to do with actual religion.
I sugest that the administators keep an eye on it.

Mankind is a pack animal and as such needs a common focus to share, usually taking the form of religion.

Religion is responsible for many many bad things and deceptions in this world but has also been the catalyst for good things such as art, architecture, charity and in many ways teaching people to care about each other (in no particular order).

Therefore a mixed view from me. Depends on the religion and how it expects it's followers to behave towards others.

more than anything, religion has benefited the egos and purses of the few that run them, but since most people are uneducated to the history of religion and about other religions, i would tend to say for the most part, it has helped society. it has given many a set of rules to live by, a code, so to speak. something to use as a crutch to get through the hard times of life. how many prisoners turn to religion while they are incarcerated, only to forget about it the moment they are released back to society?

freedom of religion means all religions.

I disagree. Economics is the root of nearly all wars: "I want what you have;" otherwise known as an issue of "supply and demand."
