How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

But when we restore the Island back to normal I would be only to relieved if it came without the "Turks-born-on-Cyprus".

Surely Turkey loves them enough she will take them all in.......Oh I see then the "Turks-born-in-Asia Minor" will trip over them...

I personally like the term TCs or Turkish speaking Cypriots.

But why are you saying that? Aren't the TCs human like us? Have you ever heard that we have the same DNA like the TCs which differs too much from that of the mainland Greeks and Turks?

I believe your comment that they are sort of fleas very degrading, and I completely disagree with you. Yes they hurt us and we hurt them in the past. If we haven't yet learned our lesson then what's the point of even talking for reunification?

Considering that I just have to look at some TCs and see them as very tall, blond and blue eyed, I can not but agree with you Pyro.

If some of us are the descendants of the Janicheris/Yeniceris, they themselves were of European descent. So I would agree with you on this one. For some idiotic remark that we are not Cypriots all I say is get real.
It is most likely that some TCs bloodline/genetics go back beyond 1571. Do not dare take away our Cypriotness Chimera. If there are more people who think like you do I am afraid you will lose forever what has been lost now.

Even Talat and his wife Oya are like that Deniz...

Some people are so obsessed with this Greek/Turk mania they are losing all the plot.

Papadopoulos looks like a Turk from the depths of Asia to me though.

Oh no not Tpap. Get Real will really get upset. I dont see that though. May be I need to take a closer look.

What Piratis is forgeting to tell you is that the GC have the true inner desire to go war and retake the Island in the first opportunity.

The overwhelming majority of the GC i have met seem to have a flame of hatreted and wish when the geopolitical circumstances allow it to go to war and retake the Island.

Only fools cant see beyond that.Hence accuse the TC that they dont want re-unification.Simply the GC want the whole island Greek and theirs!!!

You are jumping in conclusions. It is true that many Gcs don't think the current situation will ever get reversed without war. This is not because they have a hidden desire for war and you are a FOOL yourself thinking they do.

Furthermore it is also true that the majority of TCs would be thrilled if they would even smell the slightest chance to get recognition. This must tell you that they want re-unification JUST BECAUSE this chance doesn't seem to be anywhere in the visible horizon.

The question is on hat terms do the Tcs want re-unification? This is what you have to ask yourself rather than coming here and playing us "Le grand reactionist de la Grece" :P

Well each to their own, the best thing about living in a democracy.

However I would argue that the term TC or Turkish speaking Cypriots is at best, ARCHAIC.
It's like saying, "French speaking English". It just does not make logical sense. Especially in this day and age when a lot of us are bi-lingual (or tri-lingual).

Also, I re-iterate that one of the major problems with the Zurich Agreement which made it unworkable from the start was the equal recognition of both languges. Again ARCHAIC. It probably suited the Swiss to have more than one language but they did not have the chasm of differences that the Turks and indigenous Cypriots have.

As for the little rhyme, it merely demonstrates that we can keep reducing the problem to infinity, but it never goes away!

I would never for a moment suggest fleas and Turks have the same DNA.
Fleas have been around a lot longer. But I can see why the analogy may have stung if you are feeling particularly sensitive about the actions of the Turks...I can see how their actions could be likened to those of fleas.

As for re-unification... What I want is Cyprus back and that is all.
The Turks can integrate or return to countries that suit them better. We have put up with enough disturbances and they can not be trusted to behave any more.

I suppose you can be trusted. You are not only a Turk hater, understandable but also a TC hater. What a shame. A hint of Xenophobia I'd say.

Den: If you were not so selective in your reading, you would have seen I invited integration from the Turks..unless of course they do not want that.

As for hating Turks, I will stop when we get even.

As for calling me Xenophobic..Stop right there. You do not know what the word means.
XENOPHOBIA = FEAR of STRANGERS
I do not fear strangers. If you are stumbling for the "R" word, come out and say it. I am more qualified than most to argue on that one.

You want a settlement 'without the Turks born on Cyprus.' What do you mean by 'integration'? Are you talking about Turks or TCs? I am not sure. Would you arrange/allow your offspring to marry my off-spring? Are you talking of Osmosis? I know in the UK intermarriage does take place between us but are you accepting or going to encourage this?

Thank you for acknowledging the invitation for willing Turks to integrate. By this I mean hang around, and be residents, workforce etc.

I have absolutely no qualms about inter-marriage. This I appluad. Maybe we are getting to the route of it. Hybrids are more vigorous. The genetic stock of the Turks would improve enormously (just kidding here, I have no evidence for this, many scientific studies would have to be conducted to find out one way or the other). :)

By Jove, Turks are so RACIST.
Who the heck is talking about eye colour and hair colour. Oh, I forgot, bloody Turks sided with the Nazis
This is probably all you understand...How someone LOOKS. You are so shortsighted you dingbats.. Boris Johnson (yes Turkish ancestry) is the most blond person on the planet.
You need re-assurance that you are not pigeonholed with Africans or Asians. I know see that is what you are afraid of.

The typical Human malais of wanting to feel SUPERIOR because they are FAIRER. How pathetic and sad.
Well half my family are blond and the other half olive-skinnd and you know, it does not make a blind bit of difference to any of us. The problem is with you Turks. You have not even begun to enter the mindset of current thinking.

Plus this kind of mentality that the GC have might lead to a war that will involve myself given the fact i am in my 20's .

And i ask you,why should i go to war for you inability to solve your bi-communal differences?Am i obligated to fight for your 1821 mentality?Or any Greek citizen for this matter?

Piratis wrote: the reason I call TCs as just Turks some times is that they unfortunately behave exactly like Turkish invadors and not like Cypriots. They themselves say that there are "two peoples" in Cyprus. Well, I know we belong to the one Cypriot people. So if TCs do not also belong to this one Cypriot people then we can just safely call them just Turks, or "Turks born in Cyprus" as Chimera sometimes says. It is their choice, not mine.

This comes from both sides. There are Tcs who call themselves Turks, there are GCs who call themselves Greeks, and there are the others who claim they are foremost Cypriots. I don’t think you can generalise this and use it as an argument. Simply stick to what you think YOU are.

wrote: Secondly, what I noticed is that most TCs from Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and the free areas in general are more than willing to just forget those areas and live in north. It is apparent that they do not have a deep connection and love for their homeland as we do. If they loved Cyprus, and Cyprus is the whole island, then they wouldn't want to partition it. It is not a few times that we hear from some TCs that their country is the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" and they couldn't care less about the rest of the island. (note how they themselves called their "state": They called it a "Turkish" and not a "Turkish Cypriot" Republic)

There are multiple reasons most Tcs want to live in the North. Others got properties worth tens of times more than what they left behind. The main reason imo is because they feel better be among their own people. Imo not many Gcs will go back to their hometowns after a solution for exactly the same reason. We cannot accuse them they want partition just for that can we?

You are right most TCs would be thrilled with just a slight possibility they will get recognised and hence have partition. Wouldn’t e the Gcs be thrilled with the slightest possibility of controlling the whole island and allowing the Tcs to live as a totally ignored and contempted minority if not hostile on top of it? This is just human response Piratis, they are not angels we are not either. Yes they call what Turkey captured for them so and so. They know damn well it’s just an open prison. They light the biggest flag in the world just to counterbalance their own insecurities and disapointment.

Yet we have the key to solve their problems and they have they key to what we want. Imo trying to draw conclussions from sentimental desires and wants, and what every lunatic says just to mock, is just a waste of time, and tears everybody off.

Piratis wrote: Under the current circumstances I don't see re-unification evolving, since TCs and Turkey simply do not want unification.

I agree with you under current crcumstances it’s absolutely impossible to reach a solution. I don’t agree that the Tcs don’t want it, they DO WANT it but the assumed the terms wrong. 30 years of Denktashes rule ain’t a little. Furthermore I agree that Turkey doesn’t want any move forward either.

Regardless of how impossible is for the moment to have any solution, imo all of us here have a duty to explain our own vision how the process of re-unification (if it ever happens) should occur and evolve. This will make our position clear.

Btw I will make a new topic about this.Lets see if e can get ome honest answers from both sides
