Can the 60s agreements be utilized today in European Cyprus?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

LINGUISTICS has less to do with ethnicity than you seem to understand. Because we speak Greek or Turkish does not make us one or the other.

After all, we all speak English on this forum(although to different abilities), but that does not make us Anglo-Saxons.

However, a major problem with the Zurich Agreement was the fact that Turkish was stated as an official Language, and:
Hence, maybe made the whole contract un-workable.

I repeat what I said here. http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12372

The only reason the 1960 constitution still works is because the duality element is not there ever since the TCs withdrew from the Government. It requires too much consent and good will at each and every level otherwise everything gets stuck.

But... it could be used for 1-2 years as a step forward final FEDERAL solution. This final FEDERAL solution will also automatically solve the problems of Duality at every level of the 1960 constitution. It will only limit it at the Central state level.

Why should Cyprus capitulate with a Federal system of full power sharing with the Turks, when the main reason the Zurich agreement failed, was because of an extortionate amount of power, was handed to the Turks.

They were flumexed, could not commit to their duties and the whole thing failed. Leave it to the indigenous Cypriots who really care, and have a long-term commitment to the place to sort it out.

We only need to improve the Zurich agreement and we are away again.

Hopefully, minus any baggage that doesn't want to pull it's weight.

The only expression I have heard, which you may be stupidly alluding to is the Arab saying...

"The last thing a Turk ever does...is stab you in the back"

Is that the one you were thinking of Zan?
