yes but you never need to ring the customer service so who cares if they suck?

Could have fooled me. When I was with NTL one time the connection went down completely and it turned out to be the nearest junction box had screwed up and needed fixing. That required a phone call to get them to fix it. They didn't even know about it until I told them. Same thing with a friend of mine a few streets away.

Cheers

Actually, no. You won't see an improvement for a good year or so at least from NTL - Virgin Media. Its the same staff, same customer support, same equipment, same dslams they use. Only thing that has changed is the ownership and debt. Nothing else.

Virgin Media won't make wholesale changes immediately. It takes time to bring in your own ideas, to stamp your own authority, to retrain the staff.

Read my earlier reply Paliometoxo. It costs money to set up a network. Companies go in the red before they even start, before being in a position to even test the system. They can't afford to give UK prices until they have a regular income coming in.

Oh, don't get me wrong, NTL was a very good package. Always good speeds and hardly ever went wrong. Unlike some friends of mine who had BT ADSL. I was just saying that their customer support totally sucked back in the day. The worst thing about it was the sheer amount of time it took to get through to someone. Even before Virgin took them over they had pretty much sorted that out. Normally didn't take longer than a couple of minutes to get an answer in the end. Only downside was when you got the Indian call centres. Really didn't know anything. I mean the British ones were pretty clueless, but the Indian call centres brought a whole new level of uselessness. It was effectively the same thing as finding information on their website. Everything read off a card. And it took like ages to get them to understand or for you to understand what they were on about. Fair enough save some money, but bloody hell... Obvious answer was to keep hanging up when you heard them answer until you got the Scottish call centre. They were very good. Very realistic option once they got the quick answering of the phone sorted out. Obviously everyone else stuck on the Indian call centres are basically paying for your good service, but what the hey... :)

Cheers

True. But NTL were infamous at one time for having sucky call centres. I mean a whole site was created called NTHellWorld.com just to talk about it. Also friends of mine, who only had the cable TV rather than internet, were always giving bad stories about them. Everything from making it almost impossible to finish with NTL (keep getting billed) to them never coming around to pick up the cable box when you move to another house (they say they will then don't, then contact you a year later demanding payment).

Cheers
