Yep. Do miss my 10mbps cable line. Got about 1.2mb a second out of that one if I remember rightly. Nice. Also worked pretty well for me (although others had problems). Especially when you look at some of the reports about ADSL (http://uk.gizmodo.com/2007/08/03/uk_bro ... _damn.html is a new one, although we heard them all before). Not that NTL was brilliant or anything (helpdesk sucked seriously badly. I mean really...) but I never had a problem with the cable modem.

Cheers

NTL have the absolute worst customer service (words they can write but dont understand the meaning of) I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Zen were very good but pricy. Worth it as the service was always there and you could actually talk to someone.

yes but you never need to talk with anyone i found the customer service sucked but you never need to ring them ... now its virgin media not ntl if you type www.ntlworld.com o blueyonder you are directed to virgin media now they control the cable connections and they are very good service you see up to 20mbit with fibre lines for £40 a month.. not like cyprus where they want £200 a month for half that speed.. im sure we will have that here to one day in the next few years and adsl is slower to

NTL have the absolute worst customer service
Absolutely god damn right. Bloody rubbish customer service. Good internet, very rarely went wrong over 6 years, consistent fast speeds, very good. But absolute worst customer service EVER. Did you try the nthellworld.com site before it got bought out by NTL? Loads of horror stories on there.

But for me I had the following list of "laughs" waiting on the phone:-
1. Tech support told me I had never fully registered, even though I had used them since NTL broadband was created several years earlier. "I don't know how you are online! You will automatically be logged off in 2 minutes!". We waited. And waited...
2. I once took 3 hours (!!!!) on my holiday bouncing back and fore between 3 departments, trying to get a problem fixed. Wanted to kill someone...
3. A tech support guy actually told me he himself uses BT ADSL as he doesn't like NTL cable...
4. I phone up and get India tech support. They don't understand what I'm saying at all and keep reading the same answer off a sheet. "No sir, the improved speed you require is not available in your area at this time", "But my next door neighbour has it!", "No sir, the improved speed..." etc etc. I kept ringing back and hanging up until I got this scottish woman who sorted out brand new (not out on the market yet) upgrade in 5 minutes. Much like it said on the forums (keep phoning until you get the Scottish woman...)
5. I'm pretty laid back and hate to get into an argument. So one time, after waiting half an hour on hold, when I was told there was an evening service for fixing hardware problems when the customer works but has no-one in the house in the day. Brilliant. Can't fault that! So your man will be around, say, 7pm? No sir, the evening service starts at 4pm and we can't guarantee he will be there before 7pm. We can leave a message with him, but he doesn't have to do anything about it. Ang on then, most people finish work at 5pm or 5.30pm. How is this service helping them? Silence followed that before she started repeating herself. Anger rising I asked her when they could get an engineer out otherwise (no broadband). 3 weeks. I got a bit annoyed at that point, and she actually turned around and told me to calm down and basically started claiming I was abusing her with my rantings. Good grief. Total confused me that one...

God. Anger rising with remembered hatred. Must. Control. Fist. Of. Death. (I'm too much a geek). Fucking wankers (thats better... now for some beer...)

Cheers

Alot of companies are in the early stages of setting up their networks. It costs them millions, putting them in the red before they even begin. To make money back, they need to charge alot. As soon as they start seeing a return, prices WILL drop as well as speeds increasing.
