Makarios' "13 Points" (November 1963)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Pyrpolyser, I know what I am talking about. We put the bullets into the guns of TMT.

It may never happen but............. You can have some fun with it until then.

Denktash made his letters BASED ON Rustem Bros' claim.

In other words what Denktash says in his book is not a proof. It goes like this Zan: The Rustems tell some nonsense without proof.Denktash makes protest letters for that nonsense without providing any proof also.
In fact one of the people he sent his letters was Makarios. The latter did not even bother replying.8)

Btw I just made a complete search in Cyprus conflict web site. As you all know this is a high standard site that publishes only verified and doubled confirmed documents. IT HAS NOTHING ABOUT IT.

NB. You are turning into the No1 panayirdji/bayramdji of the forum Zan

First of all it never existed and now it did but with Rustem brothers.....We must be getting close.

If you don't accept the past we cannot move on.......

@bigOz
Pastelli is made of nuts in dried carob juice and has sesame spread on top.

Now thinking of it there was another thing made just of dried carb juice with sesame on top, it was something like a lolipop, tasted as you described it, and it was almost black in colour. But I don' know how it was called, anyway my favorite thing at panayiris was the Ayrani juice!

On the subject matter I am only interested to hear if you find some evidence about the speech at Panayia. I am not sure Makarios declared in advance he would ignore the supreme court or not. The remaining 2 of your points are true.

I also know what I am talking about. But when you say "we" don't generalise it. True the result was that "we" pushed our own brothers down the cliff.

As for Makarios I never respected the man, neither my family but if we ever dared say anything against him they would call us "Grivas supporters" The idiot had made the National guard TOTALY UNCONSTITUTIONAL, then he filled it up with psychopaths from Greece, and then he complained they made a coup against him.... What did he expect???

This man was doing one fatal mistake after another and he was absolutely incapable of getting out of the mess he himself was creating.

As for the 13 points what was the use? OK the state was not functioning but who cared about the state? Let the TCs veto it as much as they wanted, let them bring it down to its knees. IT WAS NOT THE STATE THAT WAS PROVIDING FOR THE GCS!!

IT WAS THE COMMUNAL ASSEMBLY and the GCs had enough money to go on for at least one year, whereas the TC communal assembly had nothing...

Forget about the bets I called for in bad temper P! I will definietely find out about the other two points - but the problem is these have to be done through other resources because there was no internet at those times and most of the info may have escaped the web. However, newspapers, government bulettins etc do archive all their editions, but obtaining info from such sources takes a lot of time and effort! HAVE YOU ANY IDEA HOW MUSH I CHARGE BY THE HOUR? (I was joking)

If you really want to find out, perhaps you can meet me halfway and ask someone living nearby Cyprus Mail offices to go in and have a look at their archives. A copy of Cyprus Mail 12.2.63 edition stating what Archbishop Makarios declared should still be in there!

The other point will be referred to ASAP, when I research through proper sources.

As for "pastelli" - that is not what I am talking about! It has been driving me crazy for many years, trying to find out what the hell this produce was. Maybe it was honey with sesame seeds in but it cannot be! It had a slightly tingy, sweet taste and was runny like honey - it was definitely called "PORTO" by my aunty who always had some on the shelves (I remember because it was the first thing I asked for every time I visited Evdim). No one seems to remember or understand what I am talking about and I know it existed. I am desperate to find out because it is one of those tasty Cyprus food products that I fear has has become "extinct". It would be great to revive it. Old people from that region must know what I am talking about. Hols on - I shall copy and paste this part as another post in General section... :D

Oh now I get it. Zan translates everything in terms of "group sayings"

Listen Zan, I am not a group applauder in here like you. If someone said "it did not exist" i really care less, I am not going to applaud Murataga or Piratis or anyone for saying so.
What I said about Rustem IS TRUE and you can make a search to educate yourself.

@BigOz and everyone interested

http://www.cyprus.gov.cy/moi/pio/pio.ns ... document#7

Where can I find past issues of Greek and English language newspapers and magazines published in Cyprus? Where can I obtain copies of articles in back issues?

The PIO has archives of Greek and English language newspapers published in Cyprus going back to the beginning of British rule in 1878 and available to the public for research purposes. It also has copies of mainland Greek newspapers as well as foreign newspapers and newspapers/ magazines published by Greek/Greek Cypriot communities abroad.

Many are on microfilm and copies can be obtained if required. There is a charge of £1 per microfilm viewed. There is also a charge of 5 cents for each A4 size copy made and 10 cents for each A3 size copy.

The PIO newspaper archives are open to the public during the following hours:

Jan-June and Sept-Dec

Monday-Friday: 08:00 - 13:30

Thursday: 15:00 - 17:00

July-Aug

Monday-Friday: 08:00 - 13:30

Great work P! At least now we have a very good source to fall onto when there is a serious disagreement on some very serious issues. Well done mate! :D

The only slight problem is, one has to attend in person at the address:
Press and Information Office (PIO)
Apellis St.
1456 Lefkosia (Nicosia), Cyprus

haha...so just because something is written in a newspaper it must still be true????

and Turks must still be the only paranoid people who write the words 'north' and 'south' with capital letters, even when they are describing a geographic location and not a place name lol.

"OOOOH, if i dont use capital letters when writing 'north' or 'south', I may be seen as a traitor by the loonies at ACTA and then the whole world will think my illegal psuedo state is not officially known as 'Northern Cyprus'."
