The TRNC Veterinary Department has imposed a temporary ban on the imports of food products and animal feed additives of animal origin from Britain following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Surrey.
The Veterinary Department also decided to take some precautions against the disease.
Disinfectant carpets will be installed at all sea and air ports throughout the TRNC as from today as a measure to prevent the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease.
Reminding that the TRNC requires import licenses for food products of animal origin, he said that round the clock inspections are being held at ports and airports.
